Mentors of DreamCatchers 100K 2017

Mentors will help the 20 finalists to maintain a focus on a specific goal, avoid potential pitfalls on their path to market, and provide constructive feedback to promote growth. Through regular interactions, the mentorship will bring depth and knowledge to finalists’ established skill set.


Timothy is the founder of Snapask which is one of the companies of TSSSU at HKU. Timothy is also the founder of HKU Alumni Entrepreneurship Club. He was selected for the “Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia” list in 2016.


Marina Chan began her career in banking at Merrill Lynch before earning her master’s degree in education from Harvard University. Marina founded Alpha Commons in 2015, an educational program cultivating creativity in children through engagement with technology.


Ronnie worked in IBM and Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Digital in the U.S.. He is a professional in E-Business, consumer web products.


Grandion specializes in apparel design, screen printing, embroidery, trimming and manufacturing. Its products are exported globally and some are sold directly to the China domestic market. Under the leadership of Alan, Grandion has grown into a company with around four thousand employees.


Arthur is a serial entrepreneur who found Asian Information Resources Ltd. and Green Tomato Ltd.. Arthur was also the Vice President of Global Sales for, responsible for driving the global revenue and paid membership development outside mainland China.


Prof. Xu’s major research interest is on discovery and functional characterization of novel adipokines and hepatokines involved in the pathogenesis of obesity-related cardio-metabolic complications.


Ed is a brand, design and innovation strategist. He formerly worked in advertising sector and Nike. Hello Toby is Asia’s fastest growing marketplace for services, connecting customers with an extensive range of skilled local service providers. Ed also serves as the Chief Design Officer of New Frontier.


Ryanne is a intellectual Property lawyer professionally qualified in Hong Kong and England & Wales. She previously worked at Mayer Brown JSM in Hong Kong and studied law at the University of Hong Kong. Dragon Law is a Startup to provide legal services, enables fast production of customised documentation.


Jackal was the co-founder of Wisenews. He is also the co-founder of Lotus Tech Beijing Limited.


Otto Ng is an architect, artist and design deirector of LAAB. He graduated from HKU with First Class Honors and Alumni Prize Medal. Then he went on to MIT where he received Full Tuition Scholarship and Alpha Rho Chi Medal. Otto has lectured at HKU as Assistant Professor.


Henry began his career in telecommunications with AT&T Broadband and Level 3 Communications in USA. Upon returning to Asia, he was a Case Team Leader at Bain & Company Greater China practice. He currently runs his own family fund that invests in early-stage consumer-centric companies in China.


As director of the Business Development & Developer Experience in Microsoft Hong Kong, Joelle is responsible for driving business transformation in a mobile-first, cloud-first world, leading the startups engagement and building apps and business cases on cloud and mobile platform. Prior to her current role, Joelle was the director of Marketing and Operations, responsible for leading business operations, marketing strategy and overall business performance of the software business groups.


Albert is a professional engineer specializing in artificial intelligence and robotic systems at HKU. Outside the laboratory, Albert is also an experienced humanitarian relief worker.


Associated Medical Supplies Co. Ltd. is specialized in bringing in niche medical devices and reference instruments made in the USA and Europe for various disciplines for distribution in the Greater China Region.


Eugene worked in investment banks before with rich experience in investment and finance.


Elaine worked in Alibaba before and specializes in e-commerce. BFM International Company Limited is now extending its cross border eCommerce business in China and India.


Jacqueline is a business strategist responsible for promoting the company and its mobile products to audience around the world. Green Tomato Limited is a regional leader in mobile enterprise solutions and mobile innovation powerhouse.


Before joining HKSTP, Carrie was a lecturer of Bioengineering Graduate Program at HKUST. From 2009 to 2011, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University, Department of Mechanical Engineering.


Since 2010, Keith has led Innopage, a mobile applications development startup, to receive numerous HKICT awards for its innovative technology and products. Kieth is currently a guest lecturer at Hong Kong Baptist University, Executive Committee Member of Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association (HKWTIA).


Jack has rich finance experience and worked in Tencent investment unit. HKX-Tech is an End-2-End platform with mentors-funding-free space, to enable inter-institution, interdisciplinary collaboration for startups.
